Actor’s School Policies
Terms and Conditions, Studio Policies, and Liability Waiver
Effective Date: January 1, 2027
BOOKING AND PAYMENT TERMS
- Registration is confirmed only once full payment has been received.
- Registration is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The School reserves the right to close registration once a class reaches capacity, or to open a waitlist.
- Prices are subject to change for future classes. A price change will never affect a class a student has already paid for in full.
- All payments are processed through Evvnt. By registering, the student agrees to that platform’s own payment terms in addition to these Terms.
CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY
- Cancellations requested at least 7 full days before the first session of a class are eligible for a refund.
- Cancellations requested less than 7 full days before the first session, or at any point after a class has begun, are not eligible for a refund. At the School’s discretion, credit may instead be issued toward a future class.
- If the School cancels a class, for reasons including but not limited to low enrollment or instructor unavailability, students will be offered a full refund or the option to transfer their payment to another class.
ATTENDANCE AND MAKE-UP CLASS POLICY
- Regular attendance is expected. The value of the class depends on consistent participation.
- Students who must miss a session should notify their instructor as far in advance as possible.
- If the School cancels a session, for example due to weather, instructor illness, or facility closure, the School will notify students via e-mail and text message and reschedule the session to the designated make-up date for that class.
- No refunds or credits are issued for individual missed sessions once a class has begun.
CODE OF CONDUCT
- The School reserves the right to remove any student from a class, without refund, whose conduct is disruptive, violent, unsafe, unethical, or otherwise in violation of this Code of Conduct.
- Students are expected to treat instructors, staff, and fellow students with respect and professionalism at all times. Students may not disrupt the learning environment through their language or their actions.
- In order to foster a productive learning environment, student participation and interpersonal communication must be positive and cooperative. Outside of the context of a scripted scene or class exercise, students may not yell at one another, use abusive, derogatory, or discriminatory language, or otherwise engage in behavior that would reasonably cause discomfort.
- The following behavior is prohibited: verbal or physical harassment, discriminatory actions, endangering the physical or mental health or safety of other persons, intentionally or recklessly causing injury to any person, or engaging in or making life-threatening gestures that disrupt the learning environment.
- Sexual misconduct in classes or involving fellow students is prohibited, including but not limited to: dating violence, family (domestic) violence, retaliation, sexual assault, sexual exploitation, sexual harassment, sexual intimidation, sexual violence, and stalking.
- Students may not attend class under the influence of alcohol, illicit drugs or substances, and may not bring these substances to class.
- Weapons, firearms, and ammunition are prohibited.
- Students may not steal, destroy, damage, or misuse school property.
CONSENT AND BOUNDARIES
- Consent is the voluntary, informed, and willing agreement or permission given by someone for an action to happen. Boundaries are personal limits and rules that define what is acceptable, safe, and respectful behavior from others.
- Students are encouraged to verbally share their boundaries regarding scene content with their instructors and fellow students, and will be given an opportunity to do so.
- Students are free to revoke consent to participation in any scene, exercise, or staged physicality at any time. Physical contact, including intimacy or fight choreography, is not required as a condition for participating in any scene or exercise. If students do not wish to engage in physical contact, they should inform their instructor or fellow students. Any staged physical contact should be discussed ahead of time.
- Students must honor the boundaries of their fellow classmates, and should not knowingly initiate physical contact that has not been consented to.
- Material shared, developed, or performed in class, including personal stories used in scene work, is to remain within the room and should not be shared outside of class without the originating student’s consent.
- Filming and/or posting videos of other students is only permitted with explicit verbal consent.
STUDIO RULES
- Students must abide by all posted rules of the space in which they take classes, including but not limited to: regulations around food/drink consumption in class, entering or exiting the space, locking or propping doors, pets and animals, etc.
ASSUMPTION OF RISK AND LIABILITY WAIVER
- Acting classes may involve physical movement, simulated stage combat, and close physical proximity to other participants. Participation carries an inherent risk of physical injury.
- By enrolling, the student, or the parent or guardian of a minor student, acknowledges these risks and voluntarily assumes them.
- To the fullest extent permitted under Texas law, the student releases and holds harmless The Actor’s School, ATX Theatre, its instructors and employees, and any venue at which classes are held, from any and all claims, liabilities, or damages arising from participation in classes, except where caused by gross negligence or willful misconduct.
- Students are responsible for informing the School in advance of any physical or medical condition that may affect their safe participation in physical exercises.
- The School is not responsible for the loss, theft, or damage of personal belongings brought to class or to any venue.
PHOTO AND VIDEO RELEASE
- Classes may be photographed or recorded, including video, by the School for internal training purposes, promotional materials, and social media, including but not limited to the School’s website and social media channels.
- By enrolling, the student, or the parent or guardian of a minor student, grants the School permission to use their name, image, and likeness captured during class for these purposes, without compensation.
- Students who do not wish to appear in promotional photos or video must notify the School in writing before the start of their first class. The School will make reasonable efforts to honor this request but cannot guarantee exclusion from incidental footage, such as wide shots of the room or group photos.
GENERAL PROVISIONS
- Governing Law: These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
